Nicholas
Wilson
18xx - 1909

"Old Nick" was one of London's most famous teachers.  He taught for over 60 years and was beloved by staff and students alike.   More formally, he was known as Mr. Nicholas Wilson.

Wilson was an Irishman and accepted his first teaching position in January of 1847.  The next year, he was granted permission to attend the Toronto Normal School (an old name for teacher's college) and in 1850, he became Headmaster of the brand new Union School, but only for one year.   However, he continued to teach at Union School and did not retire until he was seventy-nine years old, in 1907.

Nicholas Wilson Public School, in London,  is named after this great educator.
