Jack's Tale
A story of Jack Sharp, pioneer dog, that gets to the point!

Follow me back

Ouch!  What kind of a rabbit is this?   I thought this bunny was having a really bad hair day when I chased it and caught it in my mouth.

What do you think Jack found?

Call me Jack ... or Jack Sharp is even better ... makes me sound like a clever dog.   A dog is what I am, Simcoe's dog. You know Simcoe, he's the man who travels around the country making BIG plans.

What kind of BIG plans?

Anyway, I am a big Newfoundland dog and I play with Simcoe's children when I am not on these canoe trips.

How many children does Simcoe have?

I am mostly famous because I am known as London's first dog.  It is March 2, 1793, and Simcoe and I are visiting the area which will become a fine city some day.   It is a typical winter's morning and we've been tramping through a pinery, some swampy sections, and a beautiful meadow.  Then we climbed up a huge hill for a wonderful view of the river Simcoe has renamed, the Thames.  I rather like this place.  That spiky critter sure surprised me though.

Well, that's my tale! Hey Colonel Talbot, can you help me pull out these porcupine quills? Oowww...ch!

Doggy kisses,
Jack Sharp
