Hellmuth Ladies' College 1880 If you were a girl, and could afford the tuition of a private school, you might have attended Hellmuth Ladies' College which opened in September, 1869. Reverend Isaac Hellmuth had a grand vision for education in London, and the college, devoted to the study of arts and sciences was part of the dream. It complemented Hellmuth Boys' College.
The college closed in 1899, was purchased by the Sisters of St. Joseph and transformed into Mount St. Joseph Orphanage.
