Margaret
Fullerton
1900s

It may seem common now, but up until 1953, London had never had a female councillor.  The Local Council of Women had supported Miss Evelyn Harrison as a member of the Board of Education, and now the members were campaigning to nominate and elect more women.  Triumphantly, Margaret Fullerton, a former teacher at Central Collegiate, and London's first female Alderman, was elected to London City Council.
