A Case of Murder

Specific Expectations:

analyze, synthesize, and evaluate historical information;
examine and communicate conflicting points of view about an historical issue;
trace the historical development of their own community;
research and dramatize material from various sources (e.g. material from history).

Background:
In 1898, Constable Michael Toohey was shot by a tramp named Marion (Peg-leg) Brown.  Brown escaped but was eventually caught and returned to London for a widely publicized trial.  The murder conviction led to a controversial hanging in 1899.
