Blackfriar's Mill 1833
Mills were essential buildings. Since the Thames River provided enough water power to run a mill, Blackfriar's Mill, which was built near Blackfriar's Bridge, was London's first grist mill. Thomas Parke, an engineer who built the Courthouse, also erected this mill in 1833 for Dennis O'Brien. A grist mill used water power to grind grain.
Unfortunately, this fine example of an Ontario mill, was demolished. The site is now home to Harris Park.
