Blackfriar's Mill

Mills were essential buildings.  Since the Thames River provided enough water power to run a mill, Blackfriar's Mill, which was built near Blackfriar's Bridge, was London's first grist mill.  Thomas Parke, an engineer who built the Courthouse, also erected this mill in 1833 for Dennis O'Brien.

A grist mill used water power to grind grain.

Unfortunately, this fine example of an Ontario mill, was demolished.  The site is now home to Harris Park.
